Code Orange Kids join Deathwish Inc!

January 27th, 2012

Watching bands that were somewhat unheard of in most of the country when I found them, and seeing them do really well quickly is something I can never get enough of. The Main reason I started Mayfly was to give a hand to a band who is doing great things who need just a little help and exposure, I’m happy I have had some success doing  just that. When I first heard Code Orange Kids, I knew that I was hearing something special, they sounded like almost no current artist out there, they were young and excited, and driven by nothing more then making music they loved. I was hooked! I knew the second I heard “Cycles” that I had a classic on my hands, the question was, does anybody realize this, obviously a ton of you did! I’m honored by the support Mayfly has received, and just as honored to inform you that Code Orange Kids are now members of the Deathwish Inc roster. Below is Deathwish’s official statement.

Deathwish are proud to welcome Code Orange Kids to our affiliated family.

Fresh out of high school and with an average age of 18 years old, Pennsylvania’s Code Orange Kids remind us off our own embryonic days in the aggressive music scene. They do things their way, creatively cutting their own path through it all. Unconcerned with the direction of other artists, their brand of gritty hardcore/punk is simply refreshing to hear. Merging cryptic melody, dirty hardcore power, and intense dirges into their own uniquely inspired sound.

Code Orange Kids recently released their fantastic “Cycles” 7″EP on the Mayfly label. Check out “Cycles” from the 7″EP at the link above. They also have a split 7″EP with Full Of Hell surfacing soon on Top Shelf label. You can find all available Code Orange Kids releases and new apparel in the Deathwish Estore now.

MAYFLY RECORDS WELCOMES APART TO THE FAMILY!!!

December 27th, 2011

195965_158860107504599_149924671731476_339860_3239214_n

I am excited to introduce you to the newest member of the Mayfly family, South Carolina’s Apart.  Apart is an emotional hardcore band in vein of bands like Modern Life is War and Life Long Tragedy, who also draw influence from the 90′s screamo movement. What separates them from the rest is a big influence from some of the lyrically driven bands of the early 2000′s like American Nightmare, Panic, and Carry On.

Apart vocalist Lukas Hodge said “We couldn’t be more excited to announce our involvement with the Mayfly Records family. After becoming friends and working with bands like Xerxes, Former Thieves, and Code Orange Kids, and hearing how incredible of a label it is, we’re not only ecstatic to say we’ve joined them, but also flattered. There’s a lot to be accomplished in the future for us and we couldn’t be happier to have Mayfly want to be a part of that.”

Apart is in the middle of writing a full length tentatively titled “Everything Means Nothing to Me”, they plan on recording this Febuary for a late spring release, more details to come soon, for now you check out their self released material here.
